This structured course for Type 1 Diabetes will enable you to start effectively using carbohydrate counting and insulin dose adjustment as a method of controlling diabetes. This course is for those who are managing patients on basal bolus insulin.Patients with Type 1 diabetes usually manage their blood glucose levels with a basal bolus insulin regimen. A basal bolus regimen uses long-acting (basal) insulin to keep glucose produced by your liver under control, with additional short or rapid-acting carbohydrate count. This course provides you with the skills and knowledge on the different types of insulin, how they work and how each one should be adjusted according to what you eat and drink and the amount of physical activity you do. There are examples to follow and to do yourself to help you become familiar with this method of diabetes management. By working with our healthcare team, you can use this course to start carbohydrate counting.
